It is the very scenic beauty of Banff that acts as a magnet drawing tourists. The mountains and the picturesque Bow River are spectacular natural attractions woven with parks, woods and trails. Three of the more famous Banff attractions are lakes Louise, Moraine and Peyto that remain frozen until June. Their turquoise waters and the mountains that frame them are gorgeous sights.

Winter turns the area into a snow sport enthusiast's dream. Several mountains located adjacent to the town site of Banff like Mount Rundle, Cascade Mountain and Mount Norquay have excellent ski slopes that attract tourists. Mountain biking trails on the Stoney Squaw area pull people here all the time.

Exciting attractions in Banff include the gondola lift that takes you up to Sulphur Mountain where a boardwalk beginning from the upper terminal takes visitors to Sanson Peak. Sulphur Mountain is also the location of one of Banff's most popular draw – the Banff Upper Hot Springs.

Tunnel Mountain situated within the town site is popular for its quick hikes you can reach the summit in less than half an hour. Banff is home to the well-known Banff World Television Festival.
